Bloomberg, NRA steel for springtime battle over gun control
Sun Mar 24, 2013
You know I came here today expecting to see all the same comments "guns dont kill people, people kill people." But I am actually surprised at some of the intelligent posts I have seen here.
Jailed for 23 years, freed man suffers heart attack a day later
Sat Mar 23, 2013
I think that people should bear in mind that even if you are acquitted that does not mean you are "innocent" of the crime. It means the jury found "reasonable doubt". And that is why this guy's sentence was vacated.
NY man cleared, free after 23 years in prison
Thu Mar 21, 2013
In Canada we dropped the death penalty many years ago and that was because too many people had been wrongly put to death. Even before that happened I was against the death penalty. Somehow "beyond a reasonable doubt" just doesnt cut it for me.
After big soda ban, NYC's Mayor Bloomberg wants to hide cigarettes
Mon Mar 18, 2013
Well I will tell you that the Mayors in Canada dont have time for nonsense like this. As far as the cigarettes are concerned we have had them covered for a few years now - pharmacies have stopped selling them and the government has them up to 93.00 a carton.
Teenage race car driver crashes into pit row, killing two, including own cousin
Sun Mar 17, 2013
I remember it like it was yesterday - a 17 year old Greg Moore sitting at our fireplace visiting my daughter who had just had major surgery. They were friends. And in our conversation I remember him saying "I am going to be a race car driver".
Zimmerman won't seek 'Stand Your Ground' hearing in April
Tue Mar 5, 2013
First of all are we supposed to feel sorry for Zimmerman because he has gained 100 lbs over the last year and has had to be in hiding all year. Remember Trayvon's life was cut short at a very young age and there are many many things that he will never get to experience in life.
Defense signals James Holmes plans to plead insanity in Colorado theater shootings
Fri Mar 1, 2013
Please someone tell me that it is hard to get an insanity verdict. This guy murdered and injured several people - and I believe it was well planned out.
Oscar Pistorius granted bail ahead of murder trial
Fri Feb 22, 2013
I might be wrong but I think somewhere I read that in Africa there are no Jury trials - that the decision comes strictly from the judge. Whether that is good or bad I dont know but somehow I have a feeling that he may wiggle out of this with a reduced charge and less time in jail.
Drew Peterson sentenced to 38 years for wife's death
Thu Feb 21, 2013
Well Justice is served at last in this case. I wonder if he still has that smug look on his face and is smiling and telling jokes to anyone he can. This guy is a murderer plain and simple and I am glad he is going away and wont be able to kill any other wives as Iam sure he would have done had he be …
Woman donates kidney to husband just before Valentine's Day
Tue Feb 12, 2013
I absolutely cannot believe what I am reading here today.
